Krill Oil may help reverse memory loss

Sharing is caring!

Animal based omega-3 (EPA and DHA) and plant based omega-3 (ALA which can be converted to EPA and DHA though this conversion get less efficient as we age) are not the same thing.  EPA and DHA cannot be made in sufficient quantities in our body, so it is considered an essential component in our diet.

Animal based omega-3 has been shown to be particularly important for brain health.  It is also suggested that a diet deficient in animal based omega-3 fats can lead to increasing brain degeneration. Krill oil is an outstanding source for animal based Omega 3 acids.

For good brain health, DHA is one of the most important nutritional requirements. Up to 20% of your cerebral cortex is DHA, and between 30-60% of your retina.  You can see then why DHA is important for brain and eye health.

DHA deficiency has been linked to several conditions including memory loss, alzheimer’s, depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
