1 In 4 are Deficient in Vitamin B12

Sharing is caring!

As you age, you need vitamin B12 to keep your mind sharp.  In fact, a lack of vitamins may lead to brain shrinkage.

Dr. Mercola discusses the importance of vitamin B12 for your brain and why vitamin B12 deficiency is often very difficult to spot.

“Mental fogginess” and memory problems are two warning signs of vitamin B12 deficiency.

This is all backed up by health studies which even show that those who eat more vitamin B12 may reduce their risks of Alzheimer’s in later life.

For vegetarians and vegans, the problem with deficiency is greater as it is only found naturally in high concentrations in animal based products – fish, eggs, milk and dairy products.  However, even meat eaters should be aware of reasons why deficiency can occur.  Things like age play a part, but so does the amount of coffee you drink every day, or your use of antacids for stomach upsets.

If you are feeling fatigued, have trouble sleeping or don’t seem to be thinking straight, you may have a deficiency in vitamin B12.
