Hippocrates believed that all disease began in the gut, so how is your gut health? Perhaps I should ask how are the bacteria in your gut, because that is a more accurate question. Your good gut bacteria are your first line of defence, literally. They boost your immune function and protect you from their more harmful cousins.
In our history, humans have eaten fruit and vegetables that were grown naturally, in soil that contained a wealth of these good, health-inducing beneficial bacteria. The bacteria in the soil was ingested with the raw produce, and transferred to our digestive systems where the work in synergy with our own cells providing essential support to our GI tract.
Today things are very different. With pesticides and herbicides increasing year on year, and less of the natural, organic farming methods being employed, the soils are not just deficient in the minerals we need, but also the bacteria that are vital to our health and vitality. That's where a good probiotic can really help.
Most probiotic supplements contain lactic-acid based organisms, which are not really the ones you need in your gut. That's where Prescript Assist comes in – it contains 29 strains of soil based microorganisms in a formula that also contains leonardite, a humic and fulvic acid prebiotic (prebiotics are the food for the probiotic microflora).
Your gut bacteria can be easily compromised by stress, medication and poor diet to name a few. Antibiotics are a huge problem when taken orally too. Antibiotics will indiscriminately kill all bacteria in your gut, good and bad. That means while antibiotics may kill the bacteria causing your disease, it will also decimate the good bacteria in your gut, opening you up to all manner of infections.

Prescript Assist Side Effects?
This probiotic has been recommended by some of the top names in nutrition, which adds an extra layer of confidence in choosing this probiotic/prebiotic complex over some of the others on the market, but what if any side-effects have been noted? After doing some research, some people have complained about bloating, nausea and diarrhea. The problem with any probiotic is that it works by re-adjusting the levels of good and bad microorganisms in the gut, and with a major change like that, it's possible you may have an issue like this as the bad bacteria die off and are eliminated and the good bacteria start to take over. If you do start to feel this way, it may be a normal part of the process, but do contact your own health professional for advice. At the end of the day, our gut biome evolved the way it did because we ate dirt. Dirt on vegetables, dirt on our hands. That's the way it was before we starting sterilizing everything. Of course, with overuse of herbicides and pesticides, we have to wash most non-organic produce before eating it, but hand sanitizers? Really? Anyone over 40 years old will probably remember their childhood as being one with the dirt, at least the boys amongst you. It never did us any harm and made us more resilient, which is why I recommend a soil-based approach to probiotic supplementation.
