Researchers have found that men with higher selenium levels have a reduced risk of prostate cancer. When I read this, I created a juice for beter prostate health. It's a juice rich in selenium.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 honeydew melon
- 1 raw potato, pealed
- 1 banana
How to make the juice:
Juice the melon first. Wash the potato thoroughly and then peal it. Juice that next.
WARNING: never eat raw potatoes that are either green or sprouting.
NOTE: We don't often see potatoes in juices but it is a traditional remedy for some ailments like TB. It's also extremely good sources of vitamin C, thiamin, niacin, B6, folate & pantothenic acid. As for minerals, potatoes are packed with iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, selenium and manganese.
Poor the melon and potato juice into a blender and add the banana. Whizz it up until smooth. Add some crushed ice to help water it down a little. Serve cool.
Another important prostate mineral is boron
Researchers have also found that the mineral boron can not only reduce the risk of prostate cancer, but it can also shrink existing tumors. Boron is found in a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, but if you want an extra boost, eat advocados, raison, almonds, walnuts and prunes.
