  • 5 spears of asparagus
  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 small cucumber

Process each ingredient through the juicer. Depending on personal taste strain if needed but remember the more you strain the lesser the fibre content your body gets. If necessary the juice can be further sweetened with a bit of honey or some other sweetener.

One of the best diet foods, asparagus delivers only 40 calories per cup, no sodium, fat or cholesterol and plenty of fibre. It is a great source of folate, potassium, vitamins A, C and K with a hint of vitamin B.  It is one of a limited number of vegetables which actually supplies calcium. It is also a good source of magnesium

The prebiotics in asparagus stimulate friendly bacteria in the intestine to grow, which aids digestion and keeps the digestive system in top shape. The potassium in the veggie helps to regulate blood pressure and is accredited with cutting down on fat deposits, while the folic acid reduces the blood homocysteine levels that lessen the risks of heart disease. The Vitamin K found in asparagus is known for carrying out bone formation and repair work.

A specific type of phytochemical found in asparagus endow it with anti-inflammatory properties that are effective in relieving arthritis and rheumatism. The glutathione (an anti-oxidant) in the vegetable is believed to aid in cancer prevention in addition to cataracts and other eye problems. Asparagus is a natural diuretic and when taken in the form of a juice its effect is enhanced, making it a great body detoxifier.
