Minty Broccoli Mix

Sharing is caring!

brocolliA lot of people just find the idea of consuming green juices highly disagreeable due to either the colour or taste. What they don’t realize is that in direct comparison with milk, it has almost the same amount of calcium and more protein minus the lactose and toxins found in milk. This makes consumption of broccoli juice almost a must.

To deal with the taste and colour, it is possible to combine broccoli juice with other fruits or vegetables. For example adding carrots or strawberries gives the juice a beautiful pink/orange tint which is pleasing to the eye and taste buds. An added benefit is that not only do you get the goodness of broccoli but you also get the benefits carrots and strawberries have to offer, like vitamin C, beta-carotene and ellagic acid. Herbs can also be added to further enhance the flavour and aroma of the drink.

Broccoli juice helps to prevent skin cancer because it contains compounds that elevate the production of protective enzymes that work against different facets of ultraviolet damage by working from inside the cell. The gluocraphanin works to decrease blood pressure and damaging inflammation in the arteries and the heart. The sulforaphane helps to protect the body against the bacteria responsible for causing gastrointestinal problems, thus averting stomach ulcers and bloating. The calcium in broccoli juice works to maintain bone health and burn fat. It also reduces production of cortisol, a stress hormone linked with stomach fat.
